Our Mission: Worship God, Serve Each Other, Reach the World

Martha Lake Baptist Church is a body of believers (followers of Christ) who desire to fulfill our mission statement in our daily lives.  The three parts of our statement are really intricately joined together. You cannot have one without the other. All three are equally important to us.

Worship God

As disciples of Christ, our main focus in life should be to worship the one true God in everything we do. We know living rightly in a way that honors God does not earn our salvation or add any special points with God that He should bless us more. Rather, worshiping Him with our obedience to the Word and striving to honor Him in everything we do is merely our right response to the love He has shown us and that we desire to love Him in the way He desires, to show our love for Him.

Serve Each Other

To serve each other is rooted in Jesus' words when he said  in John 13 "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." For this reason we have a strong commitment to life groups where families can be a part of each others live and we can help bear each others burdens and share each others joys. If we love each other the way Christ loved us we will present a strong testimony to the world and have an impact not just in our lives, but in the communities in which we live.

Reach the World

Of course Reaching the World is a critical part of every true body of believers and followers of Christ. In Matthew Christ tells us to "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you;and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."  In Mark He tells us to "Go into the world and preach the gospel to all creation." With such a great message of good news and the command to share it we gladly put effort into the preaching of the word to all nations. It is not only for obedience sake but also to show our love and worship for our Great God and demonstrates our love for each other not just in out local body of believers, but to every person who is  part of the global body of Christ followers and those who are yet to join and believe. Also, to express our care and concern for those who choose not to follow the Lord God and warn them of the dire consequences the Creator of this world has declared would be the result of rejecting His Son.
