Scripture Reading

It is critically important in every believer’s life to be in God’s Word every day. It is the best way to know God and learn His ways and discover what He has in store for our lives.

Please select one of the reading plans below and commit to spend time every day reading from the Bible. Remember, habits take time to form and this is the beginning for some of of us, so it will take time for us to form this habit.

If you make it through the passages each day, AMEN. If you tried to make it through the passages, AMEN!! Read as much as you can each day. DO NOT ‘pile’ the previous day’s reading to the current day, this is a clever trap, don’t fall for it! If (by the end of the week) you want to go back and read something you didn’t get a chance to read, please feel free to do so.

As we begin this journey together, remember to pray for one another. Look for opportunities to encourage one another.

This reading plan introduces you to the major people and events of the Bible in chronological order, beginning with Creation, moving through the birth and history of the Israel nation, and ending with Revelation’s prophetic words. It’s all broken down into 61 easy-to-read segments.

Devotionals

Devotionals can be a good way to gain insight into God’s word. They should not replace reading the Bible every day, but as a supplement can be very encouraging in your daily walk with God.

Below are some devotionals we recommend. Pick one and give it a try. See how you can apply God’s word in your life and then go to our Walking page and comment on what God is showing you in His Word and how He is teaching you to apply it in your daily life.

Our Daily Bread
Since it was first published in 1956, Our Daily Bread has become the resource for which RBC Ministries is best known. The daily devotional thoughts published in Our Daily Bread help readers spend time each day in God’s Word.

My Utmost for His Highest
Find inspiration and encouragement from thought-provoking meditations that will draw you closer to God and will remind you of His awesome power, His relationship with you, and your relationship with others. Energize your spirit when you allow God to speak to your heart!

Experiencing God
The heart-cry of the Blackaby family is to help people to experience God. They do this through their extensive writing, speaking and teaching ministry. Everywhere they share their unique message, drawing on timeless truths, God is drawing people to Himself and setting them free. We pray the Lord will continue to use our ministry to revive His people and to equip spiritual leaders to impact their world for Christ.

Disciple making

i3 – Invest, Invite, Include

Jesus said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." Matthew 4:19

For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent?   Romans 10:13-15

i3: Invest (invest in people through relationships)
Invest in authentic, meaningful relationships with others
Start with those with whom you share some authentic interest
Love them and learn to like them
Spend time together doing things together
Be real . . . be yourself . . . let them know who you are
Have them in your home and spend time in their home

i3: Invite (Invite people to learn about, believe in, and worship Jesus)
Invite them to share prayer requests and pray for them
Invite them to "bridging events" –special church family events
Invite them to worship gatherings and Life Group gatherings
Invite them to hear the truth about Jesus (See below for tips for this)

i3: Include (Include them in God's family as they grow)
Demonstrate the relevance of your faith in everyday living
Be open about your troubles and how your faith helps you
Let them know the importance of the Bible and prayer to your life
Share with them a spiritual truth that you've learned
Tell them about your personal relationship with Jesus
Walk with them as they learn and grow in the Lord
Help them get plugged into a bible study and Life Group
Continue to support them through genuine relationship

Practical Application
Identify 3 "VIPs"
Identify people in your "circles of influance" (i.e. fmily, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc.)
Note which give no evidence of being followers of Jesus
Pray that God would reveal those who are open to spiritual things
Prayerfully select three "VIPs" (Very Important Persons) for whom you will begin praying

Invest, Invite and Include by Using Your Own Style
Healthy Confrontation – challenging
Intellectual Conversation – reasoning
Personal Testimony - storying
Sharing Experiences – relating
Serving to Meet Needs - helping

How Can I Get Started?
Identify Three VIPs and pray for them

Watch for signs of progression along the path to faith:
Unaware to Aware to Seeker to Searcher to Faith to Growth
Remember . . . only God can draw people toward himself
Be prepared to give a defense of the hope that you have in Christ (1 Peter 3:15)
